Tokyo: Senso-ji Temple

θε―Ί), Tokyo's oldest and most famous Buddhist temple, is located in Asakusa. Built in 645 AD, the temple is dedicated to Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy.
The Kaminarimon Gate, an iconic outer gate with a massive red lantern, welcomes visitors. Nakamise Street, a bustling shopping street leading to the temple, offers local snacks and souvenirs. The Hondo (Main Hall) houses the revered Kannon statue, while the nearby Asakusa Shrine is dedicated to the founders of Senso-ji.
